The aim of this project was to translate the Canadian Assessment of Physical Literacy, second edition (CAPL-2) into Danish language, adapt it to Danish context and to conduct the first measurement of Danish children's physical literacy (PL). PL is a multidisciplinary and comprehensive concept that describes a person's capabilities to engage in and adhere to physical activities throughout their lifetime. In recent years, PL has gained popularity worldwide and has been recognized as a proximal measure for lifelong engagement in physical activity. Regular participation in physical activity throughout life can improve health and reduce the risk of developing several chronic diseases.
The project is an industrial Ph.D. conducted in collaboration between the Steno Diabetes Center Copenhagen, the Association for Danish School Sports, and the Department of Nutrition, Exercise and Sports at the University of Copenhagen. The project is supported by TrygFonden and the Innovation Fund Denmark, with a total budget of DKK 3,007,483.
Timeline
The project was conducted from 2019-2022.
