Background
In Odsherred, Køge, and Vordingborg municipalities, prevention-focused partnerships have been established with the objective of enhancing health and well-being among selected target groups through a mission-oriented approach. The partnerships are initially set to run for five years, with a focus on children and young people in Vordingborg and Odsherred, whereas the partnership in Køge targets men of working age.
These partnerships are founded on the premise that a mission-driven and systems-oriented approach, combined with a dedicated, cross-sectoral effort involving municipal administrations and civil society actors, can enhance the effectiveness of local prevention initiatives to the benefit of citizens.
The aim is to develop, test, and evaluate a novel approach to prevention, with the potential for subsequent dissemination to other municipalities within Region Zealand and at the national level. Additionally, the project aspires to contribute to the field of experience, knowledge, and debate within this area.
Objective
To examine whether the principles and approach of these partnerships contribute to an increased sense of shared mission and resource activation at the system level, the project aims to assess and describe how the work within the partnerships progresses; how value is created for the participants in the partnerships and how the work within the partnerships can be strengthened to achieve the desired outcomes.
Method
Within the project, we will:
- identify and develop relevant frameworks for documenting partnership activities
- continuously qualify and ultimately describe, based on the three partnerships, how prevention efforts work and how they could potentially be expanded to other municipalities
- contribute to the academic and policy discourse on prevention, with the ambition of securing greater political and financial attention for preventive initiatives.
Timeline
The project runs from December 2023 to December 2027.
Funding
The project is funded by Steno Diabetes Center Zealand and the Health Science Research Fund of Region Zealand.
