Vasileios Michalopoulos

Vasileios Michalopoulos is a guest researcher at the Center for Clinical Research and Prevention in the Section for Epidemiology. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Thessaly, Greece, and a Master's degree in Human Nutrition from the University of Copenhagen.

Vasileios completed his MSc thesis in collaboration with the CCRP, where he investigated the associations between selected vitamin K biomarkers and obesity and diabetes, using data from the Health2016 cohort, as well as correlations with the intake frequency of vitamin K–rich foods.

Vasileios is working on a project aiming to investigate the associations between circulating vitamin K biomarkers — including phylloquinone, menaquinone-7, and dephosphorylated uncarboxylated Matrix Gla Protein (dp-ucMGP) — and cardiovascular disease risk factors, using data from the Inter99 20-year follow-up study cohort.

He has experience with data analysis, literature reviews, and scientific communication, and has presented research posters at national and international nutrition conferences.
