Marie Kim Wium-Andersen, MD, PhD, DMSc, is psychiatrist and employed in a part-time research position at the Center for Clinical Research and Prevention.
Marie has been a medical doctor since 2008 and started her research career during medical school. In 2015, she defended her PhD on the connection between inflammation and bipolar illness and schizophrenia, and in 2019, she defended her doctoral thesis on risk factors for depression.
Marie has collaborated with the Center for Clinical Research and Prevention (formerly Research Center for Prevention and Health, Glostrup) since 2013 and has for several years been involved in investigating the connection between physical and mental illness together with Professor Merete Osler and the group for psychiatric epidemiology. Since 2020, Marie has been particularly interested in depression and sleep problems as well as the use of sleeping pills. Currently, Marie is employed to investigate sleep problems in patients with depression and as co-supervisor on a larger sleep project funded by the Trygfonden.
Alongside her research career, Marie is trained as a specialist in psychiatry and is currently employed partly to run a sleep clinic at the Psychiatric Center Ballerup, and partly in her private sleep clinic SPP Klinik.
