In 2018 I was hired at CCRP to lead the Section of Biostatistics and Pharmacoepidemiology and to build a Phase IV unit in the Capital Region in close cooperation with Espen Jiménez Solem, Department of Clinical Pharmacology, Bispebjerg Hospital. The ambition of Phase4CPH is to conduct and develop phase IV studies of clinical importance, using state-of-the art methods and to contribute to innovation in the field. This is done by developing and optimizing private-public partnerships on real life studies, and interacting with academia on development of new methods and education within pharmacoepidemiology. I have been a part of the development of Optimed since its start until 2018, first as project leader and later as the leader of the group until I changed job to CCRP in 2018. In this period Optimed grew to a research group with 35 researchers. Optimed was initiated as a strategic research group in 2010 at the Clinical Research Center at Hvidovre Hospital. Optimeds main focus was on optimizing treatment and rehabilitation in older patients, the research was mainly within biological aging, frailty, physical function, nutrition, multi-morbidity and medication. As older medical patients are among the most complicated group of patients in hospital, almost all our projects were conducted in an interdisciplinary setting and in close cooperation with clinical departments, the municipalities as well as the general practitioners.
